Homework
Homework will be due the next school day after it is assigned. There will be few exceptions to this rule. If your student misses a homework assignment the procedure outlined under "Assignments" in the school handbook will be followed. If your student has been absent it is his/her responsibility to ask for the assignment. Your student will then have 2 days for each 1 day that he/she was absent to complete the assignment and turn the assignment in.
At Alton Jr High we use the ALEKS program for math class. It is an online, web-based program that allows students to work at their own level. Each day your student will have an opportunity to work at school on this program in class and/or in study hall. Your student may need to work on this program outside of the school day. Students can log in to the program anywhere that the internet is available. We do offer a study hall class that meets after school 2 days a week, Tuesday and Thursday, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. If your student is having a difficult time completing their work, this would be an opportunity that could help.

- One point for every half hour working on ALEKS.
- A weekly grade on their interactive notebooks. (10 points per week)
- When an assignment and/or project is given during the year a point amount will be assigned before the work begins.
